Environmental Services Technician

This position is responsible for ensuring SECO Energy’s compliance with State and Federal Environmental regulations and laws concerning proper storage, disposal and documentation of oil‑filled equipment. Responsibilities include repair, testing and disposal of line and substation electrical equipment; responding to emergencies for cleanup, storage and disposal of all oil spills; completing periodic environmental audits/inspections of all storage locations; proper testing, labeling, documentation and disposal of PCB contaminated equipment;

and performing high and low voltage tests on transmission, distribution and substation equipment to determine safe return to service.

• Education
  
  • Minimum:
  Two (2) year associate degree in environmental science or related field.
  
  • Minimum:
  Four (4) years’ experience in environmental compliance with an electric utility or related industry may be considered in lieu of associate degree.
• Experience
  
  • Minimum:
  One (1) year progressive experience in environmental compliance.
  
  • Preferred:
  Experience with in an electric utility or related industry.
• Other Requirements
  
  • Ability to operate office equipment.
  
  • Ability to work irregular hours and report on short notice during emergencies.
  
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  
  • Frequent business travel required.
  
  • Normal work hours 8 h Monday–Friday 7 am–5 pm.
  
  • Successful completion of pre‑employment background check, physical and drug screen.

Employees must live within a 40‑mile radius of the assigned reporting location; those outside must relocate within 6 months of employment.

Valid Florida driver’s license.
