Industrial Hygienist

Job Summary

This position serves as the Industrial Hygienist for Bay Pines VA Medical Center, responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive Industrial Hygiene Program covering environmental monitoring, recordkeeping, medical surveillance, personal protective equipment, hazardous material management, asbestos control, and education and training.

• Provide technical advice to VA personnel on occupational health issues across the VAMC and Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
• Develop and maintain an industrial hygiene program, including environmental monitoring, recordkeeping, medical surveillance, PPE, hazardous material management, asbestos control, and staff education.
• Conduct industrial hygiene inspections of worksites to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
• Review background operations and work processes to assess compliance with VA circulars and applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
• Accompany OSHA, EPC, or other inspectors during inspections of the Medical Center.
• Maintain scheduled work hours Monday-Friday 8:00 AM–4:30 PM; telework is ad‑hoc (not a virtual position).

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
• Acceptable identification for pre‑employment (e.g., I‑9 compliant documents). Driver’s license must be REAL  effective May 7 2025.
• Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program required.
• Background/security investigation and potential probationary period.
