MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (With Strong Metals background)

  • SUMMARY OF POSITION:
    Manufacturing Engineer responsibilities include development and implementation of best practices and new processes, identifying and driving process improvements, ownership of new product launches, serving as a technical expert for the company and customers, leadership and mentoring of less experienced peers, and new equipment and process specification and design.
  • Candidate must have demonstrated application of best practices and lessons learned, complex mechatronics design / quoting / implementation experience, process development, value stream mapping and improvement, and creativity to develop world‑class processes with our Operations, Tool & Die, QA, HR, and Facilities teams.

Essential Functions

  • Utilizes complex data analysis techniques to identify and correct process variances.
  • Represents the Check‑Mate Engineering organization.
  • Serves as a technical leader on projects for internal and external customers.
  • Leads and manages teams during product and process development.
  • Provides operations and supplier support domestically and internationally.
  • Leads and participates in design reviews, owning and resolving action items.
  • Interacts with senior external personnel (customers/suppliers) on significant technical matters requiring coordination within and between organizations.
  • Has thorough understanding of ERP systems including process specific data collection, validation, and presentation.
  • High level problem solving, technical leadership in the development of new processes. Makes sound technical decisions, provides mentoring and leadership to junior engineers, and manages expenses and requirements of assigned tasks.
  • Effective communications with other engineers, tooling designers, maintenance, operators, engineers from other disciplines, line and program management, customers, and Executive Team.

Minimum Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Systems, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent manufacturing education and experience.
  • 7+ years’ experience in technical process support of manufacturing operations.
  • High Level project management, value stream metric analysis, process control.
  • 5+ years solving complex technical problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • 5+ years’ Mechanical design, analysis, and documentation of tooling and processes.
  • Experience with Metal Stamping, Fabrication, Assembly and Tooling.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Proficiency with A3 Communication or other CER/Project justification methods.
  • Proficient with MS Office, ERP systems, 3D modeling (Solid Works, Inventor, or Creo). CNC machine operation and/or setup a plus.
  • Proven project leadership / planning / communication – must give specific examples.
  • Problem solving skills and familiarity with multiple methods:
    Shainin, L4S, 5‑Why, PDCA.
  • Attention to detail, time management, deadline driven.
  • Team player with cross‑functional teamwork.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and maintain deadlines.
