Mission

description

The Test & Automation Engineer designs, develops and deploys automated test equipment (ATE) and test methods for electrical generators and components, covering electrical, mechanical and dynamic (vibration/environmental) testing across all development and production phases. The role also applies automation principles to manufacturing processes (PLC/SCADA/industrial controls) to improve throughput, quality and cost. Responsibilities include requirements decomposition, hardware/software architecture, LabVIEW/Test Stand and PLC development, data acquisition/analysis, and compliance with aerospace, industrial, and Health & Safety requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Consolidate all data to develop a complete system architecture; translate user requirements into solutions.
  • Master overall design of an automated/computerized system, integrating scalability and sustainability aspects; model and break down the system to make technical choices regarding hardware, software or application packages.
  • Manage projects from preliminary design to acceptance, estimating work in terms of costs and deadlines.
  • Design and implement test and validation plans; manage subcontractors, integrate configuration management, documentation and training.
  • Ensure interface with other engineering and manufacturing partners based on project scope.
  • Test system & ATE design: build and validate modular ATE; integrate measuring devices, power supplies, DAQ, motion/IO for automated electrical and dynamic tests.
  • Produce simulation/trade studies (e.g., load profiles, harmonics, thermal and vibration exposure) to set test limits and protect DUTs and assets.
  • Test methods, execution & compliance: translate system and regulatory requirements into test plans, procedures, sequences and reports; manage results traceability and signal troubleshooting.
  • Design and implement manufacturing automation & industrial controls using PLC/SCADA for manufacturing and end‑of‑line testing; collaborate with IT/IS and Digital teams to digitalise industrial activities across production lines.
  • Ensure adherence to AS9100 processes and site safety programs.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineering and 3+ years of related field experience.
  • Hands‑on development with NI LabVIEW and DAQ data acquisition.
  • Proficiency in electrical measurements and instrumentation (power analyzers, oscilloscope, DMM, DAQ, SMU), test data capture/analysis and technical reporting.
  • PLC/controls experience for manufacturing automation, interlocks and end‑of‑line testing.
  • Working knowledge of standards for safe commissioning/maintenance of energized systems.
  • Clear, concise technical writing and cross‑functional communication with design, quality and operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of working experience in automation and/or ATE designs.
  • Background in power electronics (H‑bridge drivers, inverter topologies, harmonics/power quality).
  • Familiarity with NEMA MG 1 for motors/generators and rotating‑machine testing nuances.
  • CAD design to support development efforts.
  • Programming or scripting (Python, C/C#) to extend test capabilities, parse results or integrate databases/APIs.
  • Experience with Mitsubishi, Rockwell Automation and Direct

    LOGIC PLC platforms.
Physical Demands

Stationary 40 % / Mobility 60 % (lifting up to 25 lbs).
