What you’ll be contributing

The Electrical / HVAC Technician’s prime objective is to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment that support production and plant operations. This role combines technical expertise, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and compliance to continuously improve and maximize Reliability and Life expectancy. The technician will communicate problems, investigate chronic equipment issues, research history, propose possible solutions, help with the design, and implement final solutions in the plant with limited interruption to plant’s production requirements.

  • Promote and follow all plant safety guidelines.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with MSHA, NFPA 70E, NEC, and plant’s safety standards. Ensure compliance with appliance standards and with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Ensure HVAC systems maintain proper environmental conditions for production equipment and worker safety.
  • Handle refrigerants properly (EPA Section 608), monitor emissions, and document maintenance for environmental audits.
  • Support energy conservation by monitoring load usage and recommending efficiency improvements.
  • The EHVAC helps to perform the Compliance calibrations required for the Environmental Equipment.
  • Follow specific instructions, technical specifications, methods, and procedures as applicable in the maintenance of critical equipment of the plant.
  • Service chillers, boilers, air handling units, compressors, pumps, and ductwork to prevent failures.
  • Identify and correct issues with cooling towers, refrigerant systems, sensors, thermostats, and ventilation controls.
  • Maintain air quality, humidity, and temperature levels critical to industrial processes and equipment reliability.
  • Working alongside maintenance planners, reliability engineers, and supervisors to execute RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and continuous improvement projects.
  • Supports the plan, schedule and assignment of electrical/Instrumentation work ensuring the availability of tools, parts, supplies and equipment information.
  • Follow-up on the effectiveness of the work or operations performed and takes or initiate Improvement measures where necessary.
  • Reviews and analyzes Predictive (Pd) and Preventive (PM) program data in his area.
  • Monitors equipment performance data and repair history, identifying repetitive or chronic performance problems, recommends and executes corrective actions.
  • Works closely with Production and Process Control personnel, verifying equipment capability of operating within prescribed limits and the effectiveness of maintenance programs.
  • Control all stock of Gases and critical spares for HVAC equipment.
  • Install, test, and calibrate electrical equipment (motors, drives, lighting, distribution panels, sensors, etc.).
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical circuits, control systems, and power distribution to minimize downtime.
  • Remains abreast of predictive technologies; identify potential applications, by conducting evaluations, recommending implementation strategies when warranted. Provides input to the training requirements of trades personnel.
  • Identify maintenance risks on equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults for HVAC systems.
  • Clean, adjust and repair systems, claim and follow up warranties if necessary.
