We are currently searching for an experienced Ports Engineer Practice Lead to support our Southeast Region located in Florida
.

• Serving as a practice builder and growing the SE Region’s ports practice
• Conducting ongoing business development activities
• Hiring, managing, and motivating staff
• Independently performing and supervising structural analysis and design for marine and upland components
• Independently performing and supervising berthing and mooring analyses
• Leading development of plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for a variety of port projects
• Applying a strong understanding of maritime codes and references including UFC, PIANC, ASCE-61
• Independently preparing basis of design, design calculations, technical reports, alternatives analyses, and study reports
• Utilizing your appropriate understanding of interdisciplinary requirements for port projects to improve project processes and perform QA/QC reviews
• Attending client meetings and performing site visits
• Mentoring a team of developing port and maritime engineers
• Leveraging existing industry relationships to promote Volkert ports services and cross‑sell across all disciplines
• Performing additional responsibilities as required by the region’s business needs

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience in analysis and design of port structures
• Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Florida
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Previous experience in analysis and design of medium to large scale ports/maritime/structures and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates
• Proven experience in business development
• Ability to hire, manage, and motivate staff
• Existing relationships with port entities in FL
• Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment
• Valid driver’s license
• Good motor‑vehicle record
