Principal Engineer; Nuclear

Airswift is seeking a Principal Engineer for a long-term contract supporting nuclear projects for a major client. Remote location.

Schedule:

20-40 hours per week, may require night shift support.

Job responsibilities include providing technical expertise for nuclear plants, advanced engineering tasks, consulting to supervision, and supporting key projects across the nuclear business.

• Heat exchanger program engineer.
• Review HX inspection results, coordinating with NDE personnel.
• Make recommendations for maintaining program heat exchanger reliability.
• Perform heat exchanger margin calculations.
• Support maintenance evolutions and recommend corrective actions for deficient conditions.
• Monitor program health and perform assessments.
• Provide regulatory oversight for generic letter 89-13 heat exchangers and update procedures.
• Perform calculations supporting design criteria and licensing basis; provide tube plugging criteria; plan timely HX replacement; routine performance monitoring.
• Maintain program processes confirming maintenance practices, operating procedures, and training are appropriate and sufficient to ensure equipment functions as intended.
• Perform engineering activities supporting projects and operations across the nuclear business; apply broad nuclear plant engineering experience to make decisions and recommendations with wide latitude to exercise judgment over technical solution development.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
• 7+ years of experience.
• Ability to apply nuclear industry standards and regulations in new situations.
• Management skills for facilitating team actions for problem solving, conflict resolution, and providing backup for supervision.
• Professional Engineer (PE) preferred and may substitute for degree.

• Nuclear experience: 2+ years.
• Experience with eddy current testing of heat exchangers.
• Experience with GL 89-13.
• Experience with thermal performance reviews.
• Experience with Proto-HX.
