Florida Studio Theatre is looking for experienced pit musicians with housing local to Sarasota, Florida, to play guitar (electric and acoustic), electric bass, and drums in our upcoming production of A Night with Janis Joplin.

Synopsis:
Taking place one week before Janis Joplin’s death, Janis tells her own story through her music, assisted by her influences (Etta James, Odetta, Aretha Franklin, Bessie Smith, and Nina Simone) as they come to life, centering not only Janis as an artist but all the women who taught her the blues. This concert-style show is full of blues, rock’n’roll, and some Janis Joplin gems of wisdom as we revisit some of her best hits and personal favorites.

The band is a fully integrated element of the show, appearing on stage and may be in costume. As such, some music may need to be memorized.

Note that this schedule is NOT finalized and may change, but this is the commitment as it currently stands.

March 3 – 8, 2026 Potential participation in rehearsal. Daytime hours, figured out based on everyone’s availability

Sessions are paid for rehearsals and evening performances.

March 10 10 out of 12 starting at 10:30AM (Dress at 8pm)

March 11 – 13 Daytime calls either 11AM – 4PM or 12PM – 5PM. Evening calls for previews and opening – 7:30pm curtain, calls TBA

March 13 – March 22 with potential (highly likely) extension through Sunday, April 12, 2026

Compensation:
Starting at $90 per service - negotiable and commensurate with experience
