ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST III ) NONPOINT SOURCE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM DIVISION OF WATER RESTORATION ASSISTANCE
This position will work primarily as a Grant Manager for federal and state funded projects geared toward reduction of nonpoint source (NPS) pollution throughout the state, primarily within Basin Management Action Plan areas. Typical projects selected for NPS grant funding include stormwater treatment, septic tank abandonment through connection to central sewer, and public education to prevent pollution. This position will also assist with NPS education and outreach initiatives including the green stormwater infrastructure website (gsi.floridadep.gov),
and may include coordination with the Florida‑Friendly Landscaping™ program (F). The incumbent will be required to work 40‑hour work weeks, Monday through Friday, and be present for work between the core hours of 9AM – 3PM on site at your workstation.
This is second level intermediate environmental work with local, regional, state, and federal agencies and the private sector in the assessment and abatement of nonpoint sources of pollution resulting from land use activities. Special emphasis will be on education and outreach efforts, and implementation of Low Impact Development/Green Infrastructure stormwater projects.
Represent the Section/Bureau/Program/Division in meetings with appropriate state agencies to address respective needs, support DEP Programs, and strengthen nonpoint source management coordination.
Develop and critically analyze watershed restoration implementation strategies to reduce pollutants entering receiving waters and assure the protection or restoration of beneficial uses.
Responsible for inspections of proposed, ongoing, and completed nonpoint source management projects, as time and budget allow, to ensure compliance with program requirements.
Provides technical assistance to governments, universities, and their consultants in the development of education and outreach projects.
Serves as project manager for grant agreement projects that have been funded by the Department, particularly in the area of public outreach/education campaigns for stormwater treatment and nonpoint source pollution abatement.
Provides technical assistance in the development of the contracts and scopes of work as needed throughout the contract period.
Maintains project and funding data in the Enterprise Grants System Program Area Component to properly manage and track grant progress, so that reports submitted to leadership on grants awarded by the Department will be accurate.
Depending on available campaigns and skills/interest/need, position may also participate in internal and/or external public education campaign development and implementation.
Depending upon skills/interest/need, position may also take on a budget role, reviewing invoices for the Program and helping reconcile overall grant funding.
Compliance with the processing requirements of Chapter 215.422, F.S. is mandatory.
Perform duties which may include database entry, project management, and issue tracking.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
