The primary purpose of this position is:
To provide planning, guidance, organization, and exercising control over an Air Commando Museum.

Help

• Responsible for accessioning historical artifacts or materials and establishing accountability for the objects into the Air Commando Museum through the USAF Historical Property Collection.
• Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control or completion of a specific project, exhibit or program.
• Responsible for cataloging, processing and inventory of historical artifacts and materials in the Air Commando Museum Historical Property Collection ensuring accountability and control for objects in storage and on exhibit as outlined in AFI 84-103.
• Historical support and outreach.

• Centrally Managed Position in the History and Museum Career Field, PCS is Authorized
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance
• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station via vehicle, military or commercial aircraft
• The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions,
Professional and Scientific Positions, Museum Curator, Series 1015 + Individual Occupational Requirements.

SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11
, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes professional knowledge of a wide range of museum historical property accountability practices and procedures. Knowledge of professional museum ethics. Knowledge of a wide range fundamental principles, concepts, and methodologies of collection management procedures. Ability to conduct in-depth historical research with professional knowledge of historical principles, concepts, research sources, methodology, and techniques.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE:

Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
