Job Description

  • Where state and federal laws/regulations allow, accountable for performing day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities; ensures efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician.
  • Responsible for operating pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Under pharmacist supervision, supervises pharmacy technicians and cashiers within company policies, laws, regulations, and business ethics.
  • Responsible for selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Leads training, coaching, and performance management of technicians, including discipline and termination decisions.
Customer Experience
  • Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer complaints, responds to requests in a timely manner, and answers non‑clinical questions to ensure a positive experience. Models and shares customer service best practices.
  • Develops strong relationships with customers by anticipating needs and proactively offering services, enhancing the customer experience with a focus on healthcare services.
Operations
  • Assists pharmacist in delivering patient care, including registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verification. Completes patient and physician calls under pharmacist supervision where allowed. Assists with healthcare services such as vaccines and screenings where permitted by law.
  • Delegates, directs, and assigns non‑clinical work in the pharmacy, ensuring tasks are completed on time and holding others accountable for an efficient workflow.
  • Prepares and files reports and records required by the company and government agencies.
  • Manages core pharmacy workflow, coordinates daily schedule, recommends allocation of pharmacy hours, and ensures the pharmacy is clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Ensures compliance with business administrative activities and inventory management that do not require pharmacist licensure, managing annual inventory preparation.
  • Completes non‑clinical patient calls and drives technology/process roll‑out, championing change and engaging the team in action planning.
  • Maintains proper operation of pharmacy equipment, ensures security safeguards, and adheres to Good Faith Dispensing policy during prescription–dispensing activities.
  • Supports diversion monitoring, reports concerns, communicates prescription errors, and follows Company policies on errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
  • Processes insurance claims accurately, follows up with insurance companies and providers, and participates in third‑party audits.
  • Assists Store Manager and Pharmacy Manager in improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
  • Manages the Community Outreach Portal, coordinates off‑site immunization clinics and community events, and builds relationships with retail partners.
People & Performance Management
  • Leads performance management of technicians, making decisions on discipline and termination, and ensuring compliance with laws.
  • Accounts for technician hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling, monitoring timely training completion.
  • Identifies gaps in pharmacy operations knowledge and supports training through hands‑on or learning modules.
  • Ensures all licenses, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant, using Walgreens resources to verify status.
  • Follows policies for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training as required by law.
Training & Personal Development
  • Maintains PTCB certification through the designated training program or state requirement.
  • Enhances knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare.
  • Obtains required certifications and training such as LTMP e‑modules.
  • Seeks professional development by monitoring performance and soliciting constructive feedback, leveraging the Healthcare Supervisor as mentor.
Communication
  • Communicates with the pharmacy team, relaying messages from the support center or key emails.
