Pharmacy Technician PRN, HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital

Join our team at HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, a 155‑bed hospital serving Sarasota and Manatee counties.

Job Summary

We are seeking a registered Pharmacy Technician to prepare and dispense drugs, document records, and support pharmacists in a fast‑paced hospital setting. This is a PRN (as needed) position.

Responsibilities
  • Count, package, and label unit doses for inspection by pharmacist.
  • Assist pharmacists as directed, including filling orders and preparing labels.
  • Perform quality control and auditing to ensure medications are available.
  • Prepare I.V. mixtures and operate automated dispensing systems.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory and complete clerical duties.
  • Contribute to hospital improvement, meeting core measures and service excellence goals.
  • Follow established guidelines for reporting significant medical errors or unanticipated outcomes.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • State registered as a Pharmacy Technician (FL license) – required.
  • National certification (CPhT) preferred.
  • Previous pharmacy tech experience in a hospital setting – minimum 1 year preferred.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy, medical terminology, prescription drugs.
  • Customer service skills with effective listening.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to stand, bend, reach, lift up to 50 lbs.
