The office of samh is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders.

northeast florida state hospital (nefsh) is an 800-bed, licensed mental health treatment facility that provides person-centered services to adults suffering from severe and persistent mental illness. The hospital, located in macclenny, was established in 1959 and is the largest state operated civil treatment facility.

this is professional work supervising and directing employees. The primary duty of this position's incumbent is to spend the majority of their time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating employees, planning and directing their work; and having the authority to effectively recommend actions such as: hiring, transfering, suspending, laying off, promoting, discharging, assigning, and rewarding or disciplining direct reports. This position requires evaluating employees against established standards and taking appropriate actions when necessary (i.e. Recognition, reward, corrective action, etc.).

• ensures optimum customer satisfaction by preparing work schedules and assignments of subordinates. Approves time and attendance, daily work records and leave requests. Sets performance standards, evaluates, and prepares performance evaluations. Recommends hiring, termination, and promotion of employees. Counsels subordinates and takes appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with higher authority directives. Provides on-the-job training and schedules appropriate training in coordination with the staff development and training department.
  
  Leads, organizes and participates in hospital-wide events (including all major holiday events and related activities) for individuals served by decorating, preparing refreshments, coordinating activities, etc.
