Position
The Data Systems Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data systems that involve extracting, transforming, and analyzing data from various sources. Their role involves working with SQL queries, SAP/ERP systems, Excel, and Access to manipulate and manage data effectively. They would also leverage Python and other tools to configure automations and API connections.
Requirements
- Data Extraction and Transformation:
Extracting data from SAP/ERP systems and other sources, transforming and cleansing it as necessary to ensure accuracy and consistency. - SQL Query Development:
Developing complex SQL queries to retrieve and manipulate data from databases efficiently. This may include joining tables, filtering data, aggregating results, and implementing business logic. - Data Analysis and Reporting:
Analyzing data using Excel and Access, creating reports to present insights and trends, and generating data visualizations to facilitate decision-making. - Data Integration:
Integrating data from multiple sources, ensuring data consistency, and developing processes for data synchronization and consolidation. - Database Design and Development:
Designing and developing databases using SQL Server, Access, or other database management systems. This includes creating tables, views, indexes, and stored procedures based on data requirements. - Data Validation and Quality Assurance:
Implementing data validation checks and ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and quality throughout the data systems. This may involve performing data profiling, data cleansing, and data reconciliation activities. - Automation and Process Improvement:
Identifying opportunities to automate data processes, optimize data workflows, and improve data system performance. Developing scripts, macros, or automation tools to streamline data operations. - Data Security and Compliance:
Implementing data security measures to protect sensitive information. - Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
Creating and maintaining documentation for data systems, including data dictionaries, process flows, and system architecture. Sharing knowledge with team members and stakeholders to ensure understanding and continuity.
Specific Skills & Requirement
- SQL Querying and Database
Skills:
Proficiency in SQL query development, including complex joins, aggregations, and data manipulation. Strong knowledge of relational database concepts, indexes, and performance optimization techniques. - SAP/ERP Data
Experience:
Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems and their data structures. Understanding of SAP modules and the ability to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from SAP into other systems. - Excel and Access Expertise:
Advanced skills in Excel, including data manipulation, formula creation, pivot tables, and data visualization. Proficiency in Microsoft Access for managing and analyzing data, creating queries, and generating reports. - Data Analysis and Reporting:
Experience in data analysis, interpretation, and report creation. Knowledge of statistical analysis, data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and Excel macros/VBA is a plus. - Data Integration and ETL:
