Position

Description

IDS is seeking a Database Administrator with experience with Department of Defense (DoD) financial management processes, Government financial and accounting systems, and programming and budgeting systems to provide on‑site relational database support to a DoD customer. This individual must have experience with medium to large‑sized technology projects and will be initiating, planning, executing, and controlling the delivery of projects while meeting strict performance standards and timelines to support business initiatives and otherwise support a government office.

Responsibilities

Include, But Are Not Limited To, The Following
  • Database maintenance including monitoring, backup & recovery and Oracle patching.
  • Deploying database schema updates to production databases in support of the overall system software updates.
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.
  • Provide backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space.
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.
  • Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with the customer.
  • Install and configure database servers, Oracle RDBMS software.
  • Report project status as required for all recurring and non‑recurring efforts.
  • Work under minimal direction and independently determine and develop approach to solutions.
  • Utilize client tools such as SQL/Plus, SQL Developer and Toad for Oracle to access and analyze application data and PL/SQL code.
  • Utilize SQL to analyze application data.
  • Write complex SQL statements to read and update application schema data.
  • Read and understand PL/SQL code structure/logic and correlate to front end application functionality.
  • Analyze application PL/SQL code and data to troubleshoot bugs and performance issues resulting from logic errors and/or data inconsistencies.
  • Write and execute simple anonymous PL/SQL scripts and confirm results.
Knowledge And Skills
  • This position requires a minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a database administrator (DBA) with in‑depth experience to include installation, management, and recovery action.
  • Security+ certification is required for this position.
  • Candidates with experience using AWS Oracle RDS are preferred.
  • Candidates with Linux/Unix experience are preferred.
  • Candidates with CRIS and/or CCaR experience are preferred.
Education And Work Experience
  • This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma; a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field is highly preferred.
Physical & Mental Qualifications
  • Must be able to sit, type, hear, see, and speak for extended periods of time.
  • Must consistently work and type on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to communicate accurate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Must be able to lift/carry at least 15 lbs.
  • May be required to move about inside an office to access file cabinets, office supplies, etc.
Security Clearance

Travel
  • Some travel may be required.
Hours
