Prem Network Engineer – Tier 2

job summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Tier-2 Network Engineer to join our technical team onsite in Tallahassee.

This role is crucial for maintaining and enhancing the performance, reliability, and security of our enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for recommending, implementing, and enforcing network policies and standards across our Local Area Network (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and network security environments.

• Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network systems, including routers, switches, and load balancers.
• Monitor network performance and availability, respond to alerts, and resolve Tier-2 level incidents and service requests in a timely manner.
• Conduct routine network performance testing and analysis to ensure optimal operation.

• Participate in the planning and implementation of network design enhancements, upgrades, and migrations for LAN, WAN, and data center environments.
• Recommend and implement solutions to meet current and future business network requirements.
• Contribute to the development of network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and runbooks.

• Implement and manage network security policies and standards.
• Configure and maintain network security devices, including firewalls, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), and VPN solutions.
• Ensure compliance with internal security standards and external regulations.

• Provide support for Internet and Intranet connectivity.
• Configure and troubleshoot enterprise wireless network infrastructure.

• Work closely with Tier-1 support staff for escalation and knowledge transfer.
• Collaborate with other IT teams and external vendors on projects and operational issues.

• A minimum of three (3) years of demonstrated experience in the installation and maintenance of network systems, including:
  Network design and implementation, Configuration and management of firewalls, Providing support for Internet and Intranet connectivity, and wireless networks.
• Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and VLANs.
• Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.

• Hands-on experience with Fortinet network and security products (e.g., Forti Gate, Forti Switch, Forti
  
  AP, Forti Manager).
• Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network, Fortinet NSE certifications).
