Job Overview
This position reports to the Supervising Court Interpreter and provides English to Spanish (and vice versa) interpreting and translation services to ensure due process in legal proceedings throughout the four‑county circuit. The role will be based in Bunnell, Daytona Beach, Deland, or St. Augustine, Florida, with headquarters subject to change based on court needs.
Responsibilities- Provide accurate, professional interpreting services in court hearings, trials, and administrative proceedings.
- Interpret for attorneys, judges, and other courthouse personnel, maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
- Translate documents and legal materials between English and Spanish as required.
- Follow the Code of Professional Conduct as set forth in Part III of the Florida Rules for Certification and Regulation of Spoken Language Court Interpreters.
- Use a personal computer and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access) to prepare reports and manage case files.
- Collaborate with court personnel to deliver efficient interpreter services and meet court deadlines.
- Organize work, establish priorities, and manage multiple assignments.
- Use independent judgment and discretion concerning confidential information.
- Certified court interpreter in Florida with fluency in English and Spanish.
- Knowledge of and ability to use correct English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Effective communication skills with attorneys, judges, and public staff.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
