Location Flexibility: Candidates may be considered in other U.S. locations if they meet all required qualifications
, including significant California labor and employment law expertise and experience managing PAGA matters.
Compensation: Anticipated base salary range of $155,000 - $200,000
, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location. Compensation is market-based and may vary based on local labor markets and cost of living. This position is also eligible for an annual bonus.
Travel: Ability to travel to MITER Brands operations support locations and manufacturing facilities as needed.

We are seeking an experienced Assistant General Counsel – Labor & Employment to join our Legal team.
This role will serve as the Company's primary legal advisor on employment-related matters, with a strong emphasis on California employment law, including managing PAGA claims
. The Assistant General Counsel will partner closely with Human Resources, executive leadership, and operational teams to provide strategic, practical, and risk-balanced legal counsel in a fast-paced, multi-state manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate brings significant experience in California labor and employment law, demonstrated experience managing litigation (directly and/or in collaboration with outside counsel), and the ability to translate complex legal requirements into actionable business guidance across multiple jurisdictions.
What You'll DoLabor & Employment Law Leadership- Serve as lead counsel for all labor and employment-related legal matters across the organization.
- Provide strategic advice and counsel on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, with a significant focus on California law.
- Advise on employee relations matters, including discipline, terminations, reductions in force, accommodations, wage and hour compliance, leaves of absence, and workplace investigations.
- Partner with HR leadership to proactively mitigate risk and develop legally sound policies and procedures.
- Oversee and manage employment-related litigation, administrative charges, and agency investigations (e.g., EEOC, DFEH/CRD, Labor Commissioner claims).
- Direct outside counsel, manage budgets, and develop litigation strategy aligned with company objectives.
- Assess exposure and provide practical risk analysis to senior leadership.
- Draft, review, and update employment policies, handbooks, agreements, and training materials.
- Provide guidance on multi-state compliance with particular emphasis on California wage and hour laws, PAGA matters, and evolving regulatory developments.
- Support internal audits and compliance initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and business partners.
- Deliver training to HR and operational leaders on labor and employment law developments and risk mitigation.
- Provide practical, business-oriented legal solutions that align with MITER Brands' culture and operational goals.
