Job SummaryResponsible for assisting a designated machine operator or production team in multiple functions including maintenance, cleanup, yard work, warehouse duties, utilities, material handling, and general labor. Manually move freight, stock, or raw materials and perform other general labor tasks as required.
Job Responsibilities- Handles assignments in a repetitive and/or sequential order for completing tasks assigned
- Keeps work area clean
- Uses personal protection equipment at all times and follows all safety regulations
- Reports any unsafe conditions or defective equipment to the supervisor immediately
- Attends weekly safety meetings
- Maintains machinery and surrounding area, keeping them free of debris during downtime
- Cleans machines and conveyors
- Cleans floors and picks up reusable scrap for salvage
- Transports trash and debris away from production areas
- Manages pallet organization, keeping them neat and orderly
- Operates machinery or equipment as trained and instructed, following safety guidelines at all times
- Assists lead operator in preparing for shift production
- Works closely with the lead operator to understand the mechanics and operation of the machine being assisted
- May work with conveyors, ramps, elevators, etc. as assigned
- May operate equipment such as hoppers, bagging and sealer machines, forklift, palletizers, hydraulic equipment, powered tractors or vehicles, subject to internal certification/training
- Operates a variety of hand tools
- Assists in the loading/unloading of trucks
- Completes shipping/receiving documents as required
- Packages and labels products properly
- Handles stockpiles
- Verifies loads leaving the premises
- Maintains, verifies, and counts product inventory
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed on a temporary or permanent basis
- Previous production experience preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Can follow company production and safety procedures
- Can read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers
- Can pass internal certification training
- Can print and speak simple sentences
- Can add and subtract two-digit numbers and multiply/divide 10’s and 100’s
- Must demonstrate lock‑out tag‑out procedures
- Must keep key lock with self at all times
- Attends weekly safety meetings
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 65 lbs., extended standing, walking, sitting, bending, climbing, working inside and outside, and use of fall protection equipment
- Can perform job tasks in sometimes dusty, hot, and/or cold working conditions
