Schedule/HoursThis position’s schedule will reflect the weekly activities of the Corps, and Sunday services. (40 hours per week)
ResponsibilitiesThis position is responsible for: Directs, supervises, monitors, and evaluates the overall operation and direction of the Corps programs to include the School or Performing Arts program under the supervision of and in conjunction with the Corps Officers; builds and maintains a positive relationship with youth and families; establishes relationships with other agencies, as well as seeks to find those in the community that could also provide leadership to Salvation Army Corps programs;
provides Christian leadership to the youth and families in order to encourage their spiritual development.
- Develop local resources – for example, meet with high schools, colleges, church groups, to find students/volunteers to help with the mission, vision, and strategy of social mobility in a global community. Understands that programs do not necessarily have to be conducted in the corps facility, but at community centers, housing project community rooms, Boys and Girls Clubs, schools, etc.
- Assist with organizing and conducting weekly group meetings for the youth and families; ensures that the youth attend Sunday services, Bible study and music rehearsals; provide Christian leadership to the youth and adults in order to encourage their spiritual development.
- Manage, maintain, and strengthen the relationships with local area organizations and volunteers that are partnered with The Salvation Army to ensure the success of Corps programs; maintain open regular communication with community partners providing regular program updates keeping partners abreast of program’s needs, successes, and opportunities for further involvement.
- Manage School of Performing Arts program to include music, coral, dance and theater. Build strong relations with the local Symphony, theater company, dance studios, and singing companies. Ensure teachers are contracted and Safe from Harm trained.
- Develop and coordinate opportunities/training for youth and families to participate in volunteer/ministry opportunities such as Family Stores, Canteen Feedings, Community Care ministries, and participating in the Corps Worship Service, etc.
- Supervise, plan, assign, coordinate, and monitor the work of the Corps Soldiers and Corps Volunteers. Coordinate and work with the Volunteer Coordinator. Instruct and train Soldiers and Volunteers in the proper methods and procedures; monitor work in progress and upon completion to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Trained in Safe from Harm and qualified to teach the course locally and ensures that Safe from Harm guidelines are instituted and followed in the local setting.
- Perform other activities/special projects as assigned.
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
- Ability to observe children and ensure their safety.
- Ability to participate in physical effort/activities associated with walking, standing, lifting, playing games, and transporting objects of reasonable weight.
- Ability to drive a passenger van and passenger bus.
- Work is normally performed in an office/Corps environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. For special outdoor events, there may be occasion for exposure to physical discomforts associated with being outdoors.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field and
- two to four years of experience performing progressively responsible youth development work, or
- any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Valid Driver's License. Must meet the guidelines provided by the State of residence and the automobile insurance provider as pertaining to passenger vans/buses.
- Salvationist in good standing with The Salvation Army preferred, but not required.
