Location: Sarasota
Overview
Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the “patient centered care” model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN’s Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in.
Responsibilities- Trauma ICU:
Patient Population includes trauma-related fractures or orthopedic abnormalities requiring surgical intervention or immobilization, acute traumatic brain injuries with potential ventriculostomies, trauma-related injuries requiring surgery, CRRT, managing patients on ventilators/BiPap, titration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators), and initiation/titration of sedation/analgesic drips. - Support opportunities for novice and experienced nurses including individualized orientation, Nurse Residency for new graduates with ECCO (essentials of critical care orientation), tuition reimbursement, opportunities for paid certification (e.g., CCRN, TCAR), and a Critical Care Internship with knowledge base lectures.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support); required for experienced RN, to be completed by the end of orientation for novice Critical Care RNs
- Successful completion of Basic Arrhythmia test within 90 days of hire
- BSN requirement within 5 years of hire for ASN candidates
- Working knowledge of commonly used computer applications including Microsoft
- NIHSS certification upon hire is preferred
- Certification in a nursing specialty area preferred

Florida Registered Nurse License
- Day Shift: 3 days a week, 7:00 am – 7:30 pm (availability to days when positions open up)
- Night Shift: 3 days a week, 7:00 pm – 7:30 am
