Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist in directing and supervising the implementation of the resident care plan, including ensuring use of appropriate safety devices, positioning and toileting plans, and infection control measures.
- Assist in coordinating and supervising all services on assigned units to achieve a comfortable and homelike atmosphere for the residents.
- Perform regular rounding on nursing units—checking in with licensed and unlicensed staff, checking residents who are acutely ill or dying, and greeting all new admissions.
- Ensure staff treats residents with dignity and respect, follows facility policies and procedures, and documents accurately through spot‑checking and ongoing supervision.
- Provide a team‑oriented atmosphere, supporting nurses in assessment and care planning, task management, setting priorities, and obtaining supplies or medications.
- Monitor and report incidents, accidents, and resident or staff complaints, assist in root cause determination, and initiate preventive measures.
- Facilitate communication between licensed nurses, providers, vendors, and responsible parties to meet resident care needs.
- Respond to and document facility emergencies.
- Consult with Unit Managers to ensure continuity of care, discuss staffing issues, and address emergent or ongoing problems.
- Exercise hiring and terminating authority, and discipline unit staff per Human Resources and nursing department policies.
- Supervise proper use of equipment, recommend equipment and supply needs to the DON.
- Assist in direct resident care and work as a staff nurse when necessary.
- Prepare and administer performance reviews for shift staff in consultation with unit managers; provide re‑education to shift staff as needed.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program and licensed RN.
- Minimum one‑year experience in long‑term care; supervisory experience preferred.
