Rome Staffing (RSDR, LLC) is seeking a skilled Groundskeeper to join our client's team and contribute to the upkeep of a large, well-maintained campus property in Tallahassee, FL. This role is vital to the maintenance and appearance of outdoor areas, supporting daily landscaping tasks and facility upkeep. WhatYou’ll Do
- Lawn Care:
Mow, edge, rake, and remove debris from lawn areas using power blowers and other tools to keep the grounds pristine. - Weed & Pest Control:
Use mechanical & chemical methods to control weeds and manage pests, ensuring plant health/landscape appeal. - Litter Control:
Maintain the cleanliness of assigned areas by regularly removing litter, debris, and fallen branches. - Plant Maintenance:
Prune, fertilize, and water plants; assist with transplanting and basic plant maintenance. - Field and Irrigation Preparation:
Prepare athletic fields for events and assist with minor irrigation installation and repairs. - Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure that all hand and power equipment are in good working order; report maintenance needs to the supervisor.
- Completion of at least a ninth-grade education or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability to safely use hand tools (e.g., shovels, rakes, pruners) and power tools (e.g., blowers, trimmers) for maintenance tasks.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds and work outdoors in varying North Florida temperatures.
- Excellent teamwork skills and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions independently.
- Experience operating larger equipment like tractors, Cushman vehicles, hydraulic sprayers, lawn sweepers, and stump grinders.
- Familiarity with safety standards for chemical applications, irrigation systems, and heavy equipment.
- Knowledge of landscaping best practices and plant health care.
- Previous experience in an outdoor or campus setting.
- Familiarity with athletic field preparation.
- Interest in sustainable landscaping or conservation practices.
- Work Hours:
Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. - Compensation: $15 per hour.
- Essential Role:
This position requires availability during emergency situations and inclement weather to maintain campus safety.
