Position: Quality Inspector, (CWI)
Location: Shady Hills

Overview

The Quality Inspector, (CWI) at Phoenix Industrial, Inc. (a Mas Tec Company) will report directly to the site Quality Manager or Quality Field Operations Manager and support the Sr. Manager of Quality Control. The role is responsible for conducting and documenting inspections aligned with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Quality Inspectors must maintain accurate, legible records, foster positive relationships with owners and supervisors, and advance the company’s quality objectives.

Travel

Travel required up to 100%. Presence on the project site is mandatory.

Responsibilities
  • Familiarity with general construction processes, laboratory protocols, soil and concrete testing, asphalt paving, structural steel, mechanical, welding, and general observations.
  • Ensure Project QC documentation is complete, procedures followed, issues closed, and project risk mitigated.
  • Read and understand construction plans and specifications; identify errors, contradictions or redundancies for resolution.
  • Conduct QA/QC meetings and review deficiencies, punch list items, maintaining documentation and minutes.
  • Prepare reports on inspection activities.
  • Schedule inspection activities with local, state, governmental agencies and third‑party testing.
  • Identify differences between project specifications and standard codes; administer appropriate code expectations to protect Mas Tec interests.
  • Consult the Director of Quality when encountering issues beyond expertise.
  • Maintain professional attitude and appearance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year of QA/QC experience or engineering/technical degree substitution.
  • Minimum 5 years in a construction environment.
  • Experience with B31.3, clean room procedures, and oxygen cleaning preferred.
  • Construction trades training and practical knowledge.
  • Extreme proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with construction management software platforms.
  • Proven capabilities with Bluebeam Revu.
  • Preferred experience with Smartsheet and InEight software.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and project regulations.
  • Write reports and business correspondence.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, superintendents, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Develop positive working relationships with owners, owner’s representatives, and site supervision.
  • Work independently, ensuring resources are adequate and properly trained.
  • Be self‑motivated and take initiative.
  • Apply critical thinking to establish effective corrective actions for quality incidents.
  • Possess diplomatic skills for addressing Quality and Safety issues.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Physical Demands
  • Up to 12‑hour shift; hard physical work in varying temperatures and outdoor conditions.
  • Lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, climb as required.
  • Repetitive and continuous activity for several hour intervals.
  • Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and noise.
  • Wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Work at heights while complying with safety and fall‑protection requirements.
Hours

Full‑time, typically 50 hours per week. Schedule subject to project requirements.
