Mortgage Field Services Inspector

Overview

FAR Inspections is seeking a highly motivated Mortgage Field Services Inspector to perform residential occupancy verifications on behalf of mortgage lenders. The position is independent contractor (1099) with a predictable full-time or supplemental income and a flexible schedule.

Experience with mortgage field inspections is not required, but the ability to manage time and meet deadlines is crucial. The role is based in Reno, NV
, and FAR Inspections has been in business for over nine years.

• Most common inspections should only take 5–6 minutes.
• Complete the inspection within four days after it is assigned.
• Report general property conditions and determine occupancy based on industry standards.
• Take nine or more photos of the property with brief comments.
• Complete a short form in a mobile application.
• Be able to spend extended periods driving while making numerous stops during the day in the assigned territory.

• Computer with an internet connection.
• Reliable vehicle (good gas mileage is a plus as you will be paying for your own gas).
• Smartphone (Android or iPhone).
• Printer.
• Pass a standard background check using a valid driver’s license.

This is a 1099 position. Each inspection has a flat rate. Rates vary based on county and volume. Although you are paid per inspection, you will earn the equivalent of $30–$40 per hour
. Depending on the county and whether it is urban or rural, you will complete anywhere from 20 to 500 inspections per month working 2 to 30 hours per week. Lower‑volume counties have higher rates and higher‑volume counties have lower rates. There is no set amount of inspections per month, but the work is consistent month‑to‑month. Earn more as you become established, have greater availability to inspect, or are willing to cover a larger territory.

No additional mileage reimbursement above the flat fee per inspection.
