General Purpose

The Retail Associate ensures our customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets all customers courteously, treats fellow associates with respect, follows all company standards, maintains a clean work area, and presents merchandise properly.

Essential Functions
  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains awareness on the sales floor, keeps exit routes clear, and reports unsafe conditions.
  • Treats all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly, professional, and recognises fellow associates.
  • Assists customers—register‑trained, answers questions politely; greets everyone and says “hello” and “thank you” at the register.
  • Provides prompt responses to customer service calls, handles issues courteously, and calls leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restrooms, and disinfecting high‑touch areas to maintain merchandise and customer spaces.
  • Maintains professional appearance and adheres to the company dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat and organized.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise receipts to the sales floor with urgency, merchandising per company best practice and maintaining brand familiarity.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, the Shortage Highway, and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
  • Follows all Mark‑Out‑of‑Stock policies, processes disposals, and notifies leadership for approvals.
  • Follows all cash, check, charge card, refund, void, and offline procedures; maintains accuracy handling bankable tenders.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform tasks efficiently, maximizing productivity while minimizing steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
  • Effectively communicate with customers, associates, and leadership in a friendly, respectful, and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
  • Use all store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PCs.
  • Spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
  • Regularly bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Occasionally push, pull, and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
  • Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull, and lift more than 20 pounds.
