Florida A&M University's Facilities, Planning, Construction and Safety Department is pleased to announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Coordinator, Environmental Health & Safety vacancy.

• Functions as a Coordinator, Environmental Health & Safety (with a working title of Industrial Hygiene Specialist) in Florida A&M University's Environmental Health & Safety Department.
• Respond to emergency situations outside regular business hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Overall direction and management of safety and security procedures at all Housing facilities.
• Perform proactive IAQ assessments and work with maintenance to address any abnormal conditions.
• Respond to any housing IAQ concerns expressed by faculty, staff or students and facilitate corrective actions.
• Develop and implement health and safety programs.
• Train Resident Assistants, Resident Directors and other staff members to manage, inspect and mitigate indoor air quality issues.
• Monitor to completion any required corrective actions, post‑assessments and follow‑ups.
• Facilitate and conduct sanitization and clean‑up efforts.
• Facilitate asbestos and lead‑based paint assessments; facilitate asbestos abatement for housing facilities.
• Coordinate disposal of hazardous waste material in a safe manner; serve as safety officer on housing facility renovations, demolitions and projects.
• Investigate innovative and cost‑effective methods for maintaining appropriate indoor air quality conditions.

• Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
• Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization.

• Knowledge of OSHA and NFPA safety standards.
• Knowledge of hazardous response practices and procedures.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations.
• Skills in performing safety inspections.
• Skills in problem solving.
• Skills in preparing reports, policies, correspondence and other written documentation.
• Ability to understand and interpret policies and procedures.
• Ability to work independently and respond to emergencies.

• Master's degree in Biological Science, Engineering Science & Technology, or other related area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Engineering Science & Technology, or other related area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Salary is Negotiable.

• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Must Obtain CIH within Two Years of Being Hired.
• Must Have Valid Driver's License.

This is an Administrative and Professional (A&P) position.

Successful candidate is subject to a pre‑employment screening which includes a review of criminal records, reference checks and verification of education.
