Position: CORRECTIONAL SERVICES MANAGER
Location: Tallahassee

JOB DUTIES:

  • Supervise and evaluate the activities of Security Auditors and operational reviews statewide, establishing and maintaining the Department’s Unannounced Security Audit and Operational Review schedules.
  • Ensure the maintenance and development of computer applications associated with the Security Audit Section and the Bureau of Security Operations, while evaluating and improving security audit processes as directed by the Chief of Security Operations.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations to field administrators regarding the security audit process and assist with security audits to evaluate performance and ensure the integrity of the Security Audit Program.
  • Undertake complex special projects, research, and prepare necessary materials, making recommendations to leadership, and maintain close working relationships with wardens and regional management to develop correctional staff and improve physical security systems and custodial practices.
  • Review and approve changes to post charts and master rosters, ensuring uniformity and optimal use of manpower, and act as a backup for the standardized security equipment program, working closely with Procurement and Institutional Management.
  • Supervise the backup to the Roster Management System Administrator and Security Systems Administrator, participate in various committees and project work groups as needed, and oversee the routing of incoming formal grievances and correspondence, ensuring proper tracking and review.
  • Assist with follow-up and completion of action items, tasks, or projects for the Office of Institutions, maintain familiarity with Department rules, policies, and procedures governing inmates, and perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a shift supervisor or higher within the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) or another federal, state, or county correctional agency. (The shift supervisor ranks within FDC are Lieutenant and Captain. Other agency rank structures may differ and will be considered individually.)
  • Experience administering or conducting security audits and operational reviews in a correctional environment.
  • Experience with collecting, evaluating and analyzing data and using operational data base systems.

  • Background Screening Requirement:
    The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
