Status: Full Time, Monday – Friday.

Job Responsibilities- Perform repairs and maintenance of structures, electrical systems, plumbing, washers and dryers, heating and ventilation and air conditioning systems in compliance with ACA, MTC, FDOC, and DMS directives.
- Use hand tools, electrical tools, or battery‑operated tools for repairs or replacements.
- Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses as directed.
- Perform minor construction and repair of structural woodwork.
- Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
- Repair or replace plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, and related components.
- Assist in preparing surfaces for finishing such as painting.
- Direct inmates assigned to the maintenance department.
- Document work order status, completion, or need for outsourced repairs.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance checks of buildings and equipment.
- Conduct routine scheduled checks of air conditioning, heating systems, kitchen equipment, etc.
- Count all control items (tools, carts, etc.) daily before and after shift.
- Maintain safety compliance, including the use of PPE for self, staff, and offenders.
- Provide on‑call support during emergencies when equipment malfunctions.
- Model appropriate behaviors and intervene when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
- Maintain accountability of inmates and property and adhere to safety practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned, within incumbent’s capabilities as determined by management.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical training and two (2) years related experience preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and computer proficiency preferred. Valid driver’s license in the state of Florida with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post‑Hire RequirementsMust successfully complete annual in‑service training requirements.
