Employment Security Representative I (MSFW) – OPEN COMPETITIVE

• Comprehensive and specialized assessments of skill levels and service needs.
• Development of an individual employment plan to identify the employment goals, appropriate achievement objectives, and appropriate combination for services for the participant to achieve the employment goals.
• Group and Individual career counseling and career planning.
• Provide services available from the local office, including the availability of referrals to agricultural and non‑agricultural employment, training, supportive services, testing, counseling and other job development services.
• Provide specific employment opportunities which are currently available.
• Provide information on the complaint system and a basic summary of farm worker rights regarding the terms and conditions of employment.
• Coordinates services with state and local agencies and private employers for job development and referrals.
• Maintains accurate case records including tracking customers’ employability plans.
• Maintains appropriate documentation for support services and conducts follow‑up on customers on a regularly scheduled basis.
• Refers customers to community resources for appropriate employment‑related services and performs placement services, as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing in both English and Spanish.
• Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications which include Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective customer service and the ability to provide excellent customer service.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
• Ability to record, collect, evaluate and analyze data.
• Ability to work independently by planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.
• Ability to listen effectively.
• Ability to read and understand reports, documents and other written materials.
• Ability to utilize problem‑solving techniques.

Qualifications

As a condition of pre‑employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

• Bi‑lingual (Spanish/English) required (written and verbal)
• Must have MSFW background
• Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.
• Travel may be required.

$36,050 Annually
