School Social Workers strengthen the district’s mission by providing services that enhance home, school, and community partnerships. They address barriers that interfere with student performance and achievement by bringing stakeholders together and creating an environment conducive to problem solving and learning. They help students and families with learning, behavior, and attendance concerns. They work independently under the supervision of site principals and the Supervisor of School Social Work Services.

• Demonstrate regular and predictable attention to work.
• Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
• Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
• Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary for the position.

• Promote mental health and well-being through counseling, crisis protocols, and linking to community services.
• Serve as liaison between school, family, and community agencies.
• Encourage parental engagement, including home visits.
• Consult with teachers, administrators, and stakeholders regarding student needs.
• Develop assessments of students’ social, emotional, and interpersonal relationships.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams to assist students with attendance, academic, social, emotional, and health issues.
• Identify attendance barriers and engage parents in interventions.
• Coordinate services with internal and external providers.
• Participate in professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience:

3+ years preferred; experience in school setting or related human services preferred.

Certificates/Licenses:
Florida Professional Educator Certificate or Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).

Skills:

Reading, writing, communication, math, reasoning, computer skills.

Activities include standing, walking, sitting, climbing, keyboarding, talking, hearing, and reaching. Lifting up to 10 pounds. Travel required to various sites.
