Housing Specialist
The Housing Specialist provides direct assistance to Schoolhouse Link clients, including homeless families and unaccompanied homeless youth, to secure safe, stable, and affordable housing options. This role requires a compassionate, solution-focused individual who can navigate the housing market, collaborate with community partners, and support vulnerable populations.
Responsibilities• Provide client assessment and support.
• Serve as system navigator for intake and assessment of homeless families and unaccompanied homeless youth.
• Develop and implement individualized housing plans based on client goals and available resources.
• Assist clients in completing rental applications, securing documentation, and negotiating lease terms.
• Conduct monthly in‑home visits with young adults.
• Educate young adults on life skills related to securing and maintaining appropriate housing.
• Establish and maintain relationships with landlords, property owners, and low‑income housing providers.
• Collaborate with case managers and other service providers to ensure clients have the necessary resources for long‑term stability.
• Complete and submit required Housing Financial Authority and CDBG documents according to contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of client interactions, housing searches, placements, and outcomes.

- Learn computer applications in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access).
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years in social services.
- Knowledge of housing resources, rental market, and affordable housing programs.
