The Family Advocate works in collaboration with the Safe at Home team to build natural supports for families, linking them to formal and informal resources, and ensuring child safety while fostering family strengthening.
Responsibilities include:
- Help parents improve relationships with children and household environment by teaching better care, nutrition, hygiene, discipline, protection, instruction, and supervision.
- Utilize the Nurturing Parenting Curriculum with identified families.
- Conduct home visits, report safety concerns and progress updates to the Safe at Home team, stakeholders, and providers.
- Teach parents and children conflict management techniques.
- Assist parents in meeting children's special physical, mental, or emotional needs and help parents address their own needs that affect caregiving.
- Help families discover and access community resources.
- Maintain accurate records of all activities, documentation of phone calls, linkages, and home visits within contractual time frames.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- $18.00 per hour

- High school diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience providing direct services to children, youth, or families.
- Knowledge of childhood development and effective parenting skills and techniques.
- Must successfully complete the required Nurturing Parenting Curriculum Training.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to form alliances with community organizations.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and on‑call rotation.
- Ability to use personal vehicle to travel for home visits and/or transport clients.
- Ability to work under stressful situations.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and climb stairs.
- Valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage.
