What You’ll DoAs a Warehouse person, you are responsible for efficiently managing and organizing inventory within the warehouse using various types of forklifts. This role requires expertise in operating different forklift models, including sit‑down, stand‑up, and high‑reach lifts, to safely move, stack, and organize products. The Warehouse person also ensures proper inventory control, maintains a clean and organized warehouse, and collaborates with other team members to meet daily operational goals.
The ideal candidate will be safety‑conscious, detail‑oriented, and proficient in the use of warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Operate various types of forklifts, including sit‑down, stand‑up, and high‑reach lifts, to load, unload, and transport materials within the warehouse.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on forklifts to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Accurately pick, pack, and stage materials for shipment according to order specifications.
- Organize inventory in the warehouse, ensuring items are stored in the correct locations for easy retrieval.
- Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory and update stock levels.
- Assist in receiving incoming and outgoing shipments, verifying contents, and preparing items for storage.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movements and report discrepancies to team leads.
- Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and free of hazards to comply with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members and leads to ensure timely and efficient workflow within the warehouse.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and forklift safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting with stock counts and seasonal projects.
- Assist in other areas of production and give breaks as needed.
- Regular attendance required.
- Active participation and support of the plant safety program is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certification and/or forklift operation experience (sit‑down, stand‑up, high‑reach lifts, etc.) required.
- Must pass Basic Skills Assessment.
- Previous warehouse or logistics experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely.
- Basic computer skills and experience with WMS or similar inventory systems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items up to 50 lbs.; occasional team lifts required for heavier materials or equipment.
- Manual material handling may include boxes, pallets, and supplies.
- Extended periods of sitting or standing while operating a forklift.
- Frequent standing and walking on concrete floors when performing general warehouse tasks.
- Walking between storage areas, production lines, and loading docks.
- Climbing in and out of forklift cabs multiple times per shift.
- Occasional use of ladders, stairs, or step stools to access racking or shelves.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching overhead, and twisting while loading/unloading or stocking materials.
- Use of both hands and arms to operate equipment and handle items.
- Frequent hand and wrist motion using scanners, pallet jacks, and control levers.
- Repetitive motions associated with packing, labeling, or scanning inventory.
- Sharp near and far vision for reading labels, operating forklifts, and identifying hazards.
- Depth perception and peripheral vision needed for navigating tight spaces and ensuring safety.
- Ability to hear horns, safety signals, alarms, and verbal instructions over background noise.
- Exposure to varying temperatures (hot or cold depending on warehouse or outside climate).
- Potential exposure to noise, dust, odors, and occasionally fumes, depending on the manufacturing processes.
