Construction Manager - DFW Airport at Bowman Engineering & Consulting (BEC)
The Construction Manager oversees construction activities at the DFW Airport and serves as the lead representative to the owner’s interests on the construction contract. This involves functioning as the liaison between the owner, prime contractor, subcontractor(s) and responsible for all construction related activity throughout the duration of the project.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Manage quality control by ensuring work and reporting are accurate on the project; sign‑off on reports.
- Oversee and track day‑to‑day work‑in‑process; monitor progress is adherent to plans, measurements, location, and schedule.
- Coordinate site visits and walk‑through owner’s, stakeholder representatives and other interested parties to the project.
- Conduct weekly status progress meetings, including variance update reporting, with contractors and stakeholders.
- Facilitate code requirement inspections and sign‑offs throughout multiple stages of the project.
- Schedule, coordinate and conduct next‑phase preliminary meetings to prepare all stakeholders.
- Sign off on contractor work completion and submit monthly accounting/release of funds from budget to contractors (approval and/or payment processing); track and allocate expenses.
- Attend owners’ meetings and provide all required updates and reporting.
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field of study.
- 5+ years’ construction management experience in heavy civil construction, construction management, facilities, or related industry.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and cost estimating software.
- Background Check – Security Clearance required.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Certified Construction Management (CCM) certification helpful.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas helpful.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) license helpful.
- Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
- Well‑developed relationships and contacts in the industry.
- Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, work well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays.
- Dependable, self‑starter who works with minimal supervision to plan personal workload effectively and prioritize tasks while managing multiple competing priorities.
- Proficient skill in reading a tape measure and depth probe logger.
- Intermediate math skills including basic equations.
