• Utilize the nursing process to provide quality and efficient patient care according to established standards.
• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and update of individualized patient plans of care.
• Implement identified plans of care in accordance with current professional standards and patient needs.
• Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions.
• Identify patient and family learning needs and provide teaching using effective methods.
• Complete all documentation in a timely manner and maintain patient clinical records and reports.
• Coordinate and delegate care and treatments with the interdisciplinary team and supervise LPNs/LVNs and nursing aides/techs.
• Perform supervisory charge nurse responsibilities when assigned.
• Assist with urgent and emergency situations, including Code Blue and Rapid Response.
• Identify problems and potential risks, contribute to corrective action plans, and notify proper personnel of issues.
• Be available during inclement weather and staffing emergencies if required.
• Create a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff; assess risks and implement precautions.
• Maintain regular attendance in keeping with the assigned work schedule.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support overall effectiveness of the organization.

• Successful completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program is required.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is preferred.
• One (1) year recent experience is preferred; acute care setting preferred.

• Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• CRRN certification is preferred.
• ACLS certification is preferred in Texas hospitals; required for charge nurse roles.

• Knowledge of current nursing theory and practice, infection prevention, and wound care standards.
• Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies (TJC, CMS).
• Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
• General computer skills (data entry, word processing, email, records management).
• Critical thinking skills.
• Effective organization and time management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks.
• Ability to maintain quality, safety, and infection prevention standards.
• Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to collaborate professionally with others at all levels of the organization.

• Significant standing, walking, bending, lifting, reaching, pushing, and pulling for prolonged periods.
• Both gross and precise motor functions.
• Ability to lift or exert up to 50 lbs.
• Potential exposure to bodily fluids.
• Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation.
• Audiology required for accurate patient assessment.
• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
• Manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
