Summary: Value Add Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, and cost within the Value Add manufacturing environment. This role works closely with production, sustaining engineering, and product development teams to ensure manufacturability, scalability, and continuous improvement of processes. The engineer will develop and maintain process documentation, troubleshoot manufacturing issues, and support corrective actions.
This position plays a key role in supporting operational excellence while maintaining BITZER’s quality and safety standards. The role is based at the Flowery Branch, GA manufacturing facility with minimal travel requirements.
- Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes and workflows to improve efficiency, quality, and throughput.
- Develop, update, and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Support production by troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to ensure new products and changes are manufacturable and scalable.
- Analyze production and process data to identify bottlenecks, waste, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support cost reduction and value‑add initiatives while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Provide technical support related to manufacturing equipment, tooling, and materials.
- Participate in continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and standardization initiatives.
- Manufacturing Process Knowledge:
Understanding of manufacturing processes, workflows, and production environments. - Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis:
Ability to troubleshoot issues and implement effective corrective actions. - Technical Documentation:
Skill in creating clear work instructions, SOPs, and process documentation. - Data Analysis:
Ability to analyze production data to drive process improvements. - CAD & Technical Tools:
Proficiency in CAD software for 3D modeling and design documentation. - Communication &
Collaboration:
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, production, and management teams.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or related engineering field from an accredited institution. - Preferred
Education/Certification:
Technical background with exposure to manufacturing or industrial engineering concepts. - Experience:
Minimum of 2–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. - Preferred Experience:
Experience with welding, materials, tooling, equipment, and manufacturing process optimization. - Knowledge:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of CAD software; technical understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, HVAC/R systems, fluid mechanics, and materials preferred. - Manufacturing plant environment located in Flowery Branch, GA.
- Exposure to production equipment, machinery, noise, and varying temperatures.
- Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required (safety glasses, steel‑toe shoes, hearing protection, etc.).
- Minimal travel required (less than 5%)
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to bend, reach, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work safely around manufacturing equipment and machinery.
