Chief Engineer

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Chief Engineer and are actively looking to meet the best and brightest talent that the hospitality industry has to offer. The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and safety of the hotel’s physical plant and infrastructure.

This role ensures all building systems operate efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with regulatory standards while supporting optimal guest satisfaction and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities Building & Systems Management
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of the physical building structure, including guest rooms, public spaces, back‑of‑house areas, and exterior grounds.
  • Manage all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, and life‑safety systems.
  • Ensure all equipment and systems operate in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Monitor and maintain fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems, emergency power systems, and other legally mandated safety systems.
Preventative Maintenance & Energy Conservation
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative maintenance programs.
  • Ensure timely inspections, servicing, and repairs of all equipment and systems.
  • Lead energy conservation initiatives to reduce utility costs while maintaining comfort and performance standards.
  • Track system performance and recommend upgrades or improvements as needed.
Budgeting & Capital Projects
  • Prepare and manage the engineering department operating budget.
  • Control labor, materials, and contractor costs within approved budgets.
  • Plan, manage, and execute capital expenditure (Cap Ex) projects, including renovations and major system replacements.
  • Coordinate with ownership, asset management, and vendors on project timelines and costs.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Recruit, train, mentor, and develop the engineering team.
  • Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage, including weekends, holidays, and on‑call needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and preventative maintenance.
Operational Support & Compliance
  • Coordinate engineering activities with hotel leadership and other departments.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure adherence to OSHA standards and all applicable building codes and safety regulations.
Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Chief Engineer or Facilities Engineer in a hospitality or similar environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of:
    • Plumbing
    • Electrical systems
    • HVAC and refrigeration
    • Life‑safety and emergency systems
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and National, State, and Local building codes.
  • Proven experience with preventative maintenance programs and equipment operations.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
