GSL Education Kent Branch are recruiting a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to work within a school in Folkestone. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with children and wants to play an important part in their learning, confidence, and development.
Every day as an SEN Teaching Assistant can be different. You may support pupils during lessons, help them manage difficult situations, encourage communication, or simply provide a calm and familiar presence when they need it. The successful SEN Teaching Assistant will be flexible, positive, and able to respond to individual needs.
Your Role Will Include:- Supporting pupils with special educational needs during lessons and activities
- Providing 1:1 or small-group assistance where required
- Helping pupils understand and complete classroom tasks
- Encouraging positive behaviour and greater independence
- Supporting pupils with their social and emotional development
- Working alongside teachers and other support staff
- Creating a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment
- Experience working with children or young people is desirable
- Previous SEN TA experience would be beneficial
- Patient, approachable, and supportive personality
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Able to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
- Committed to helping every pupil make progress
- Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to complete a new application
