This role combines technical expertise, people leadership and client relationship management, offering the opportunity to play a key part in the continued growth and success of the tax function.
Key Responsibilities Lead, mentor and develop a team of Tax Seniors and Trainees, fostering technical excellence and collaborative knowledge sharing. Act as the primary advisor across a client portfolio including individuals, partnerships, trusts and estates. Identify and deliver complex tax planning opportunities, providing expert technical guidance on bespoke assignments. Oversee the quality and integrity of the personal tax return process, managing higher-level compliance cases within your portfolio.
Manage HMRC enquiries and compliance checks with professionalism and sound technical judgement. Drive departmental efficiency through proactive management of billing, workflow and monthly work-in-progress reviews. Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a high standard of service and identifying opportunities to add further value. Candidate Profile You will bring at least five years of experience in a tax-focused role within a professional practice or similar environment, together with strong technical capability across personal tax and advisory matters.
ATT or CTA qualification, or an equivalent level of tax expertise, is preferred. You will be a confident people leader with excellent communication skills, a client-focused mindset and the credibility to manage both technical issues and senior stakeholder relationships effectively. Key Requirements Minimum of five years experience in a tax-focused role within practice or a similar professional environment. ATT/CTA qualification preferred, though equivalent tax experience will also be considered.
Strong technical knowledge across personal tax compliance, advisory work and HMRC matters. Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop junior team members. Excellent client-facing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships and deliver a high standard of service. Commercial awareness and strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
