Job Announcement Food Service Worker I Job DescriptionUnder general supervision of the Food Service Director or designee, perform daily food service activities, assist in the preparation of school meals; serve meals to students and site staff. The incumbent will perform routine cleaning tasks in a school cafeteria, cooking kitchen, or production kitchen, and do related work as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the entry level position in the food service class, typically a part-time position.
Minimum Qualifications :
Experience: Commercial food service experience preferred
Education: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
Other: Serve Safe certification preferred
Physical abilities include the usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions and require the following physical demands: stand foran extended period, operate kitchen tools, utensils, and equipment requiring repetitive hand movement, inspect documents and other written materials, sufficiently move about the kitchen, cafeteria, and school site; move, lift, push and/or carry large or small objects weighing up to 31 poundsin the school cafeteria, food storage area, or freezer;
some climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching; reaching, handling, touching, and/orfeeling; manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer.
Significant physical abilities include the ability to sit at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations for extended periods;see and read, with or without visual aids, laws and codes, rules, policies, and other printed matter, computer screens, and printouts; hear and understand speech at normal room levels and hear and understand speech on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly innormal conversations.
Upon Conditional Offer of Employment:
- Department of Justice Criminal Background Check
- TB Test within the past 60 days (Education Code 49406, Assembly Bill 1667)
- Complete district Mandated Reporter training, Sexual Harassment, etc
- Must obtain and maintain a First Aid/ CPR Certificate (In-Person Training ONLY)
- Pre-Employment Physical Evaluation conducted through the District (Minimum 31 pounds).
