We are a small company, and you may be asked to assist with other projects for the company in addition to your regular job responsibilities.
- Modeling Work - Demonstrated experience with:
- Load flow and dynamic power system modeling software: PSLF and/or PSS/E (TSAT and PSCAD a plus)
- Validating generic facility and power plant dynamic models via tunable parameters, using field data from staged testing, for compliance with NERC MOD-025/‑026/‑027 reliability standards
- Updating generic facility load flow models with site‑specific equipment information and configuration data
- Practical operation/functioning of Power Plant Controllers:
Active Power, Reactive Power, Voltage, Power Factor and Frequency Response Controllers - Participate in various modeling working groups and rule making processes to keep GridSME's clients ahead of impending regulatory changes
- Lead our team with Generator Model Validation activities for NERC compliance (i.e., MOD‑025, MOD‑026, and MOD‑027) and system operator/reliability region data submittal requirements (e.g., CAISO TPP, ERCOT)
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to other Engineering team members
- Lead other Power Systems Engineers with client work related to all aspects of our Engineering, Reliability & Compliance, and Technical Services Practice Areas
- Lead client projects, communicate with clients and internal team members, and coordinate activities
- Perform reviews of technical engineering analysis to assess and demonstrate our clients' compliance with specific NERC Reliability Standards (e.g., FAC‑008, MOD‑025/ 026/027, PRC‑005, PRC‑019, PRC‑024,PRC‑025)
- Research tariffs, business practice manuals, and other utility, system operator, and regulatory guidance documents
- Support development of generator test plans, coordinate testing activities with the site owners and operators, and perform site visits and field testing of generators to collect data for Generator Model Validation activities
- Perform PSCAD EMT Model development and transient studies for projects in the renewable energy sector
- Use tools such as Aspen One Liner and AutoCAD for electrical system drafting and design of the transmission, generation, and distribution projects
- Participate in industry training and working groups (IRPTF, WECC Modeling Working group, IRPGW, etc.)
- Overall teamwork
- Demonstrate flexibility in learning and growing into all of our current and future services (e.g., generator model validation, NERC compliance, grid technology, energy storage, solar, wind, and inverter‑based resource challenges, etc.)
- Recruit and develop resources that can provide value to our clients
- Lead technical engineering staff and provide guidance utilizing industry knowledge and expertise
- Manage projects, engagements, and work with the entire GridSME team. We focus on each other's success.
