Role OverviewThe Environmental/Civil Coordinator functions as a project designer and assistant project manager on mid‑size to large projects. The role involves sustaining and growing client relationships, organizing business development opportunities, and supporting project pursuit and proposal development. Primary duties include supervising and directing a multitude of waste and organics engineering projects.
Responsibilities- Assist Waste Project Managers and Engineers with planning and monitoring all aspects of multidiscipline projects or medium‑sized projects with high technical complexity.
- Perform assignments through the entire project development cycle to complete deliverables on schedule and within budget.
- Maintain client relations and participate in business development, marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Work on a wide variety of contaminated material, MSW, and organics related projects, including compost facilities, transfer stations, material recovery facilities, hazardous waste facilities, and organics facilities.
- Develop Phase I ESA, Phase II ESA, and compliance monitoring reports.
- Prepare solid waste facility operational permitting report documents such as Report of Facility Information (RFI), Report of Composting Site Information (RCSI), Transfer Processing Report (TPR), and In‑Vessel Digestion Report (IVDR).
- Collaborate with staff engineers to prepare design deliverables including strategic planning, engineering design reports, construction drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, and construction schedules.
- Participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies to resolve technical issues.
- Serve as a consultant to waste and organics construction management projects as needed.
- Work independently on technical tasks involving data analysis, interpreting results, and preparing technical reports, plans, and specifications.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience with multidiscipline facility, civil site engineering, or related project work.
- Candidate located in the greater Sacramento area.
- Candidates without an EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
- Self‑motivated with developing leadership and project management skills.
- Demonstrated understanding of client relationship management and evidence of experience interacting directly with clients.
- Hazwoper 40‑hour training.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Teams, One Note, etc.), AutoCAD, and GIS.
- Detail‑oriented and a team player with strong communication, technical writing, analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
