HDR is looking for a Structures Project Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services Business Group in Walnut Creek or Folsom, CA office. This individual will be responsible for the structural design of facilities in support of a variety of markets including Technology, Corporate/Commercial, Education, Healthcare, Water/Wastewater, Municipal, Industrial, Power, and Federal. They will coordinate with a multidisciplinary design team from planning through construction administration.

• Review structural documents for conflicts with all disciplines.
• Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials and sizes, and complete necessary calculations.
• Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through design development and contract document phases.
• Establish meetings and participate in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance.
• Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project sites with the Project Manager and other disciplines.
• Coordinate workload across design and construction document phases to meet schedule.
• Assist with affected disciplines on addenda, requests for information, change proposals, and change orders, incorporating agreed calculations.
• Perform other duties as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasis.
• A minimum of 5 years structural engineering experience.
• SE license.
• Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm.

• Professional engineering license recognized by the board for the location of the position.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Active participation in an employee‑owned culture is a must.
