Folsom Surgery Center is seeking a motivated full‑time Pre‑Admission Testing (PAT) Registered Nurse to join our team.

Job Title: Pre Admission Testing Registered Nurse
Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and administrative staff to manage patient information and needs. Performs verbal assessment with the patient prior to surgery, admission via a phone interview, and collects the patient’s medical history from previous records. Works closely with the anesthesia department and the surgeon’s office to coordinate patient needs and make advanced assessments of the patient’s physical and psycho‑social needs.
The Pre Admission Nurse (PAT RN) organizes and directs activities in accordance with nursing standards, The Joint Commission, Medicare, and all other applicable federal, state, and local guidelines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Contact all patients by telephone prior to surgery to assess medical and medication history.
- Review lab, x‑ray, EKG orders, and medical clearances to determine patient and procedure suitability for the ambulatory setting.
- Conduct pre‑admission teaching and verbal assessment with patient prior to admission via telephone.
- Perform physical assessment related to peri‑anesthetic care, including respiratory management, pain management, and patient teaching.
- Perform physical assessment related to pre‑surgical state of the patient.
- Implement problem solving and emergency intervention when necessary.
- Communicate findings and recommendations to the appropriate team members.
- Minimum:
Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of CA. - Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. - Minimum 6 months experience in Pre/Post Op or PACU; preferred 1 year in pediatric Pre/Post Op or PACU.
- BLS Certified
- CPR Certified
- PALS Certified
- Strong communication skills, both telephone and in person.
- Good working knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and legal aspects of nursing.
- Strong computer skills and experience with healthcare applications, Microsoft and/or Windows applications.
- Ability to work in a self‑directed environment and prioritize with little supervision.
- Ability to independently solve problems in a positive, results‑oriented manner.
- Demonstrated ability to apply organizational skills to facilitate smooth workflow.
- Articulate telephone voice/speech pattern with a pleasant tone.
- Professionalism and teamwork; high‑quality customer service to patients, families, physicians, and coworkers.

Wage Range $48–$55 per hour, based on experience.
