Description:
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Family Birthing Center with a focus on Labor and Delivery.
The unit includes 2 OB beds, 7 Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) beds, and overflow beds for post-partum patients.
The facility averages 70-80 births per month and also conducts non-stress tests.
Patient care ratios are not guided by AWHONN; during labor the ratio is 1:2 and 1:1 at delivery, with 1:4 for mother/baby couplets.
Candidates must have experience with 35-week gestation patients and above. Twin deliveries are performed.
Preterm patients less than 35 weeks are transferred to a higher level of care.
Nurses are required to titrate drips, including pitocin and occasionally insulin.
A charge nurse or nurse shift manager is present on every shift, ideally not taking an assignment unless staffing requires it.
There are no certified nursing assistants on the unit; one OB tech is scheduled each shift.
OB specialists are available on-site 24/7.
Anesthesia is not in-house 24/7 but is on-call with a 20-minute response time.
Respiratory therapists attend every delivery and provide support as needed.
The charting system used in the unit is Cerner.
Weekend shifts are required, including two weekends per four-week schedule.
Holidays will rotate with core staff.
Registered Nurses may be placed on-call during scheduled shifts and are expected to respond within 30 minutes.
All nurses are required to float to other facilities within the system if necessary.
The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during the 13-week assignment period.
