Compliance Accountant – Ahern

Responsibilities

As a Compliance Accountant you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring construction projects comply with GAAP, internal policies, and contract reporting requirements. Your duties include:

  • Setting up and monitoring projects in the company ERP system, ensuring contracts are accurately configured to support proper revenue recognition and compliance reporting.
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, coordinators, billing specialists, and auditors to resolve discrepancies and support accurate financial reporting.
  • Preparing labor reports, contractor tax statements, and auditing contracts and change orders.
  • Reviewing and executing final lien waivers in accordance with Ahern-approved language, managing supplier waivers using third‑party software.
  • Performing general account reconciliations, variance analysis, and month‑end close activities.
Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • At least two years of relevant experience with a strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Detail orientation and the ability to work independently while solving problems proactively.
  • Proficiency with Excel and a collaborative mindset ideal for a fast‑paced environment focused on process improvement.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage reporting deadlines, reconcile accounts, and support audits.
