The following duties are normal sque for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Performs vehicle inspections and safety checks on all County vehicles and equipment assigned to Fond du Lac County for maintenance.
Will perform oil changes, lubrication, tire rotation and changing, brake repairs and adjustments, replacement of malfunctioning and worn parts such as wipers, headlamps, electrical components and other miscellaneous work required on County vehicles.
Will perform electronic diagnostic testing of County vehicles to determine any problems.
Required to perform repairs to diesel and gas engines Lore all types of drive train components, hydraulic and electrical systems.
Helps maintains records of the maintenance and upkeep of all County vehicles and equipment assigned for maintenance, assists other Shop staff members with keeping appropriate records required for inventory control, financial and billing purposes.
Will work overtime on an as-needed basis for mechanical work.
Willing and able to continue education and develop expertise in the area of diesel and industrial equipment maintenance and service pigments.
Proficiency in reading икән wiring diagrams, understanding complex electronic control systems and a working with specialty tools.
New Vehicle setup including squad cars pick trucks and Aufbau other equipment owned by Fond du Lac County. This would include items such as warning lights, sirens and radio systems.
Ability to learn computer repair order system and enter information into it.
Maintains a clean, safe and organized workspace adhering to all Fond du Lac County Safety regulations and work rules.
Desirable Knowledge and Abilities:
- Substantial knowledge and ability in automotive repairs acquired through both on the job training typically at an automotive or fleet repair facility and education in the field of Automotive service.
- Knowledge of electronic diagnostic equipment for diagnosing multiple vehicle makes and models.
- Thorough knowledge of automotive preventative maintenance and repair, knowledge and ability in the areas of transmissions, brake systems, wheels, tires, suspensions, hydraulics, and electronics.
- Strong critical thinking to diagnose complex problems and issues related to vehicles maintenance and repair.
Training and
Experience:
- Graduation from High School or a G.E.D is acceptable.'avons a minimum of 5 years’ experience in automotive repair is preferred. Certification by an accredited trade school or college in the areas of automotive service is preferred but not required
- Must have ability to obtain a valid Class A, B, C, and D Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no brake restrictions.
