OverviewA well-established, multidisciplinary engineering firm is seeking an experienced Plumbing Designer with strong Revit (BIM) expertise to join a collaborative design team working on complex commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and specialty facilities. This role offers the chance to work on technically challenging projects alongside seasoned engineers, designers, and architects who value quality, constructability, and innovative problem‑solving.
This position is ideal for a plumbing designer who thrives in fast‑paced project environments, enjoys mentoring and collaboration, and takes pride in producing highly coordinated, construction‑ready documents.
What You’ll Do- Lead the development of plumbing system designs using Autodesk Revit, including fully coordinated 3D models, plans, details, schedules, and isometrics.
- Design and document domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, storm, and specialty plumbing systems for complex building types.
- Perform system layouts, fixture counts, sizing calculations, and equipment selection.
- Coordinate closely with architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection teams to deliver integrated, clash‑free designs.
- Apply applicable plumbing codes, standards, and best practices to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant systems.
- Participate in project planning, design reviews, and coordination meetings.
- Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and field conditions to support construction efforts.
- Contribute to QA/QC processes and help maintain consistent design standards across projects.
- Support junior designers and contribute technical insight on challenging design conditions.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit for plumbing and MEP system modeling.
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials, and installation methods.
- Working knowledge of plumbing codes (IPC, UPC, and/or local codes).
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- BIM coordination and clash detection workflows.
- AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office experience.
- Exposure to technically complex or process‑driven facilities (manufacturing, food, industrial, or healthcare).
- Industry certifications (e.g., CPDT, CPD) are a plus but not required.
