Description
Position Summary:
Prepare detailed drawings of parts, weldments, and assemblies using Solid Works according to MSI’s engineering and manufacturing standards. Create and upload Bills of Materials into our ERP software.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Design, CAD, or related technical program graduate to gain hands-on experience creating drawings used in the manufacturing of custom machinery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing their skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create, modify, and release detail and assembly drawings using Solid Works and AutoCAD.
- Create and revise drawings based on engineering changes, redlines, and customer specifications.
- Convert AutoCAD drawings into Solid Works models and drawings.
- Prepare detailed multi-view drawings and drawing packages for production.
- Maintain and update drawing files.
- Review and self-check drawings for accuracy, completeness, dimensions, fits, and stack-ups.
- Work closely with Designers, Project Managers, Engineers, and shop employees to clarify drawing requirements.
- Follow established drawing standards and department procedures.
- Manage changing priorities and complete assigned work within required time frames.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Mechanical Design or a related field preferred; equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
- Experience creating or modifying technical drawings from written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and redline changes.
- Proficiency in Solid Works is preferred.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and other design software.
- Basic understanding of mechanical design, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with Engineers, Designers, and shop personnel.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to learn new information, ask questions, and adapt to changing priorities.
